Event Overview

Join us for this precious and auspicious opportunity to join the Annual Amithaba Acummulation Retreat with His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche hosted and translated by Drupon Lama Dorje!

We invite you to a rare and auspicious gathering at the Amitabha Accumulation Annual Retreat, an opportunity to immerse yourself in the transformative practices of Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha of Infinite Light. Guided by His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, this retreat offers the chance for Lama Dorje’s sangha to meet directly with their precious root guru, deepening their connection to the teachings of the Drikung Kagyu lineage.

Amitabha’s Pure Land of Dewachen (Sukhavati) represents a realm of boundless compassion and clarity, offering practitioners the ideal conditions to accelerate their progress toward enlightenment. Through the practice of Amitabha, participants can transmute attachment and self-grasping into loving-kindness and wisdom, fostering a commitment to the liberation of all beings. Amitabha’s practice is also central to Phowa—the transference of consciousness at the time of death—and removes obstacles to longevity and well-being.

This retreat will culminate in a pilgrimage to Sedona on September 8, where participants will deepen their practice amidst the energy of the land's sacred spaces. Teachings will be offered with direct Spanish translation by Lama Dorje and the English translation will be over FM radio, ensuring accessibility for all.

Don't miss this extraordinary event, which promises a powerful opportunity to advance on the path with the blessings of Amitabha Buddha and the guidance of His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche.

WHAT IS A DRUPCHEN?

A drubchen is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat that involves a group of people practicing together for many sequential days. The word drubchen means "great accomplishment." We will recieve teachings from His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, practice visualization, recite a sadhana and accumulate Amitabha mantras together.

During the day we practice all together, and we take turns rotating through early morning sessions and all night sessions to keep the mantras going continuously without stop!

Why is a drubchen important?

  • It is said to help promote inner peace, peace in the community, and world peace
  • It is said to help purify negative forces in the world
  • It is said to help accumulate merit and wisdom
  • It is said to help reveal the mind's essential nature
  • It is said to help awaken a pure perception of the world as a sacred realm

Venue

The Garchen Buddhist Institute was founded by His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche in Chino Valley, Arizona. It is rooted in the Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Garchen Rinpoche created the Institute to establish the Buddha Dharma in the West, and to offer practitioners of all levels the opportunity to receive teachings, and participate in short or extended meditation practices. The Institute is at the heart of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche’s international mandala and the educational programming offered here inspires and cultivates compassion and wisdom for the benefit of individuals, communities and the world at large.
